No way on earth should sell Carriere or any aspect of the deposit to fund the project. It is all in or nothing.

If you sell any large aspect of the deposit to fund the other, and given the size, you have an immediate competitor. If it is a Chinese entity they will develop that and given the size of the resource I would simply say that you would not be seeing AVZ develop a resource into the 2030s. If AVZ sell any aspect of the resource to the Chinese and therefore have an immediate competitor the Chinese will use that resource for its own needs (given most of the Chinese entities are owned, in part or in full, by the Chinese Government and trade under a different name). Just have to look at Tianqi and its 50% share in Greenbushes - it sells to itself.

If AVZ sell Carriere or any part pf the depsoit to a Chinese entity creating a direct competitor they may as well pack up and save funds until the 2030s before they consider a mine develop for their remaining deposit or start looking for another mineral to mine (and give SH a capital dividend). The only way any such proposal would work is if AVZ have European Offtake partners, because selling an aspect of the deposit to the Chinese effectively means you lose access to the Chinese market IMO

    All IMO
