Some of you here may recall the recent debate about the carer bonus etc. leading up to the budget. It appeared the Treasurer was poised to can this bonus payment and that the justification was a 'fight on inflation'.
Well, although I am not a direct carer, someone in my family is fortunate to receive this assistance so I wrote to the Treasurer telling him it was outrageous that the most needy in sociiety were being used as pawns in the fight on inflation. I urged that his budget not can this payment.
I did get a response and it was to say that it was not his responsibility but that he had referred my letter to the Minister for Families.
Guess what, no response from the Minister for Families. Atleast I always got a proper response from Simon Crean and John Howard who were always courteous and prompt in their communications. Now that's probably a great example of inaction.
