    Hey @troopy1
Im also a builder in Vic, used to work commercial prior to starting my own business.
In the last 10-15 years as technology has rapidly advanced the building techniques, materials and processes have changed and have adapted as sometimes older systems whilst they had worked for 100 years just werent as efficient. As with every new technology it has to be tested and pass standards and no doubt FBR has had the relevant building authorities/testing facilities in the loop along the way, there is no way that anyone in the right mind would be at this stage of a process and not have been certain that it wouldn’t comply with standards and tolerances.

Just because it hasn’t been done doesn’t mean it won’t work and won’t be fit for purpose. Look at the wireless technology we have now, back in the 80’s (assuming as I was only born in the 80s) I’m sure if you said to someone you could run high speed Internet, control your lights, appliances etc all from a mobile phone they would have looked at you like you had two heads.... that process was refined over the years and is now something we can’t live without.

As with any business you have to adept to change to ensure efficiency and FBR will hopefully become something that builders can utilise to increase profit, reduce waste and complete projects quicker, as a builder you would have to agree these 3 things are critical. I also understand that we have a warranty on a home and a reputation you work hard to get so you don’t want to risk it however provided it’s tested and shown to be fit for purpose it’s something everyone needs to look at with an open mind rather than the fact it’s just not the same way we have done it for 50 years.

plumbers would have screamed black and blue when copper piping was on the way out...now if you ask a young plumber to weld a copper pipe they struggle as they are so used to the push connection, they would have had their doubts but they all adapted to increase profits, reduce waste and complete projects quicker ...
