Optus is not in great position at the moment either. Whilst the ACCC is correct that the merger would reduce competition at this point, I don't believe any network operator is in a strong position, Telstra is probably in the best position but even then, margins must be squeezed based on the investment all have to put into 5G to keep in touch with the latest tech. So what happens in the future will be interesting, don't think that Optus isn't pleased by the ACC decision, they will be, if TPG and Voda merge, Optus is toast.
TPG see that their fixed line will be eroded by 5G so they want to get into Mobile 'cheaply', buy into Voda.....They saw how much capital was required to set up their own and realized that they would be highly leveraged for years at the same time Telstra went up to the next G speed.... Fast track to collapse.
