"Why is Magnis using pictures from the old tender documents and wrapped J&R (Modell Year 2015) equipment if things are already up and running in NY."
Who is saying that things are up and running in NY (Huron)? They are producing cells but only at a MW scale facility. Out of interest how do you know the equipment is manufactured by J&R with a model year 2015? This has never been announced or imaged anywhere to my knowledge
The question Stan was answering was about manufacturers using NMC chemistry and the challenge those companies face in being competitive. He thought around 3GW would be the cutoff for them. Using BM-LMP affords IM3 the ability to use cheaper raw materials.
Obviously since then the Alevo deal happened and they got a huge bargain on the machinery for around 1+GW of annual production. This will assist in making IM3 cells even more competitive (if required).
If you read the Siemens announcement it says what they are doing for the consortium. It doesn't really matter whether Siemens are working for free (good sign), they are being paid or they are part of a JV. They wanted to be involved developing the business.
