In a country like Oz with so much year round sunshine, it seems ludicrass not to use it. Why shouldn't we focus on EV's with a solar cell 'moon roof' The vast majority of workers park their cars outdoors all day (while at work) so the car would be fully charged for the trip home for free. Nissan is quoting a 250k range for their latest EV prototype but even a 100k range would be more than adequate for the average city vehicle. One of the troubles with current hybrid vehicles is that they have twice the engineering as a single power source vehicle, resulting in higher cost, increased weight (& therefore lower than optimum fuel efficiency). An all electric vehicle with a small individual electric drive on each wheel would remove the need for weighty & space consuming engine & drive train
