And just as there were no consequences for the banks after the GFC thanks to obliging Governments who bailed them out, here too we have a similar situation where institutions can short a company like GXY for no good reason and against all logic safe in the knowledge that one of your mates like Black Rock will use its holders funds to cover you when you need to return the shares you have borrowed.

I have to hand it to these robbers, they know how to play this game to their advantage.
