Bonaparte's plan a goer
ONE analyst who has our ear has taken issue with Pure Speculation over an implied scepticism about dredging phosphate from the seabed off Namibia.
The plan by Bonaparte Diamonds Mines (BON) is actually a real goer, we are reassured. The area off Namibia is Australia's Georgina Basin millions of years ago (that is, still under water). The South Africans have offshore dredging down to a fine art and the phosphate is 1.5m thick in places. Plus, there are no drilling or blasting costs, no crushing or grinding and certainly no traditional landowners to make life difficult. To use the parlance of US ambulance crews, it will be a case of "scoop and run".
