When soldiers go to a guerilla jungle war with no boundaries like in Vietnam and kill families and children, they are heavily psychologically scarred and even commit suicide...because their actions of killing transgressed their own psychological normalcy, integrity, conscience or empathy (whatever we want to call it)...
The same with your property, wife, husband, partner, etc...your cherish them and therefore your mind somewhere, even if it is not conscious of it, has empathy for the property, wife, husband, partner of others...
In my opinion, what we call "immorality" is merely misunderstanding oneself...it is blindness or ignorance...which is why "immorality" is forgivible...
