MGC are investors so yes they have investors and had expressed a pathway that included doing an IPO, so there are 3 reasons for them to be sharing information...
1 - Responsibility to investors and investors in the companies who have invested in them i.e. MGC and shareholders of MGC
2 - To look like a credible business
3 - To promote themselves for a possible public IPO
There are no excuses, they just give the impression they are very poor at execution and don't care about investors
