Thanks for proving my point that what I stated although simple would not be simple enough for some
Your friend who buys bank shares?????
What is your point GO BACK AND READ what I posted with eyes and mind open
This bit in particular
"Of course shares will not ALWAYS out perform property if you are going to selectively pick property investor "A" who has done well and compare the results to a selectively picked share investor "B" who has not done so well"
I have a client who turned $4000 worth of $0.005 options into $1.2 mil in a bit over 12 months
Would like to see someone beat that with a return on property
It would be very unlikely some one could but it would be foolish to use this one off specific example as being the reason shares out perform property.
The ONLY way the two forms of investments can be compared is to compare average returns on the basis of the average return of the WHOLE market compared to the AVERAGE return WHOLE other market
And yes there will always be the astute property investor that achieves better then average returns, but as with my above example there will also be astute share investors who achieve better than average returns, returns that a property investor can only dream about
But the share market will return on average more than the property market over any longer period of time.
