A few comments:
1. Ashford seam is from 2 to 8m thick and overlain by Bonshaw Seam 1 - 5m thick and they come together (coalesce). This is a very dangerous seam setting to try to extract underground.
2. This is NSW very close to grain and cotton country thus the anti coal and aquifer Libby will be strong
3. Trucking coal there at the rates required; first your calcs are overly optimistic on hours per driver and trips per day (public roads, schools, through Brisbane) I did a quick mental check and your no of trips are half and your costs low by half.
you didn’t add in your $7 port costs etc
without doing detailed economics I would just say that numerous major and minor groups have owned and studied Ashford for decades and the mining and trucking impact management never stacked up until the rail is built and an open cut could be approved.
