Serious note ,
I know they must have some reasons like the 6U satellites are 40% lighter than the pearls so they can go on a carrier piggyback launch if they can not get US loan ,
but I’m also sure that eight pearls also can be on a piggyback launch also.
What I did ask but really did not get a response was..
Can the pearls do all that the 6U satellites are going to do. Answer was yes but the pearls are overkill,,
Now if the pearls can do as what’s needed from the 6U THEN WHY NOT use 8 pearls,
That way there will be no need for new CDR also
The price is cheeper like $200,000 cheeper EACH,
That’s a savings of 1.6 million
( I know )the reason why they are more expensive and that’s simple 8 6U is all they will need.
But the pearls were given out to the lowest bidder and Gomespace one the contract also that was 3 year ago prices.
More you buy cheeper it is like everything.
So what I’m trying to say I know there is more involved but I did not get the full question answered when I asked.
Besides they are lighter the (6u) why not put up 8 pearls instead since they can do what the 6U satellites are needed for.
I don’t care they are overkill
No need for CDR
No Need for delay
And at least $200,000 cheeper each
Just makes sense to me to put 8 pearls up
