I agree. If either of the major political parties try attacking superannuation, it will be to their detriment and that party will be signing its own death warrant. Would be very hard to forget this much discussed non-return of franking credits which belong to the shareholders. I thought the $1.6 cap was reasonable, however. Personally, as a self-funded retiree, I believe the tax-free status of super annuities should not continue, particularly for those receiving very large annuities.
