Australian diversified group Wesfarmers is not necessarily going to have free rein in its US$545 million bid for Kidman Resources, even with its 47% premium offer for the lithium developer.
And if a counter bid is to come, the most likely contender to upset Wesfarmers' battery metals ambition is none other than Rio Tinto, with its new Rio Tinto Ventures taskforce to be leading the way.
