Making imports cheaper stimulates demand for them (& kills our competing industries) & results in a double wammy further deterioration in current account.
I put the question again:
If raising interest rates controls inflation, why is it that the USA has dropped interest rates aggressively while we have raised rates aggressively while Japan has kept them neutral, yet we all have rising inflation?
Clearly interest rates play a very minor part in it (if any)
