Thanks. I'm aware of how that works. Someone has challenged the notion that there is no risk, by saying that the issuing bank will just wipe a hold off the cancelled card to get out of paying the merchant. I'm saying that the bank, once they've authorised the hold in the first place, cannot unilaterally remove the hold later on to get out of paying the merchant where the merchant has done everything above board. But I'm not an expert in this area. So I'm asking if someone who knows for sure, can confirm which is the case.
