It should be noted that it can be much quicker to bring new gas supplies online than oil supplies. If the US went crazy drilling gas wells they could easily turn prices around within a year or two. Oil would take double that.

That said though the best alternative for oil and nuclear at the moment for the US is Gas. Particularily if its hot this summer the gas peaking plants will be pumping.

Overall though unless demand drops off significantly we are looking good. We hav to remember Gas vs oil prices/demand are two totally different things. Oil demand could shoot lower very quickly but gas demand is more stable and is used for Needs vs more wants for oil.
