Hi Muppet ..I was just thinking about that too!

There are currently around 26.3 million shares on loan to short sellers? ...(working off Top-20-Shareholder percentages that’s about 1.23% of the company)
Or am I reading the chart data wrongly?

...and no short sales have been recorded at all since last Friday when the close was 11c...
From looking at shortman data on the back history at Altura https://www.shortman.com.au/stock?q=Ajm (May 9, May 29 and June 4 ) and at other companies, I believe you are right - when there are zero trades there is no data recorded .

So around 16 million shares traded since then (not counting after market?) have all ‘genuinely changed hands .

And, from personal experience of the habit, if there are indeed 26 million shorts out there, the worst of all possible reasons they could be sitting is the same reason vultures hang out in a tree near a stricken creature . They expect it to die and can’t feed till it does .

More than 6.6 million shares loaned out to shorters were sold and the shorters get to keep the lot rather than only the difference between their sale price and subsequent repurchase price.

What happens to open short positions in the event of a takeover please kingkevin?
