I'm not sure that I can answer your question accurately. You do ask the difficult one!
I will attempt an answer and then those that have a better handle on this can jump in and say that i have got it wrong and the real answer is this .....
Right I will attempt the "easy one" - or what I think is easy! "over a true width of 54 metres."
Okay now my understanding of that is that the width of the intersection of the magnitite that is being measured is 54 metres wide. It is called a "true width" because the angle of the drill hole is at right angles to the slant of the layer of magnetite (see Fig 4 in announcement. So it is the real width of the layer. If the drill hole had been at an angle then it would have got a result that gave an increased depth or width because it was on an angle and not a right angle. So you might end up with a measurement of 67 metres but it would not be a true depth.

Now I think I am right on that but if I am not then hopefully someone will explain it better.
Now the next one :"indicate 35 weight % total iron"
I hesitate to even attempt an explanation. Big Kev knows what he is talking about and a few geologically minded posters. Big Kev does sort of explain by his footnote on each of the recent announcements which reads :
"Note: Due to the high density of
magnetite at 5.2 gm/cc, 30–40 volume
% magnetite is equivalent to 44–55
weight % magnetite in Canegrass
gabbro (density about 2.8 gm/cc). This
is equivalent to about 32–40 weight %
iron in magnetite in Canegrass magnetite
gabbro rock."

Now it is something about the percentage of magnetite in the rock will increase in weight percentage when the rock is ground up and the magnetite extracted.

I will get shot down in flames for that statement no doubt but we will see what others have to say. Fatstocks ? instocks? anybody?
