Whilst we are on it, I think most would agree that Israel taking out Iraqs nuclear facilities in the 80's was a great move, but if you look back everone condemned Israel for the pre-emptive strike but im sure there were many high level private phone calls thanking them for what they had done.
Also Gulf War 1 - from memory things didnt really kick off until Sadam aimed and publicly showed on TV all the scud missiles he had aimed at Israel, and im pretty sure Israel told America that if they didnt sort it out Israel would be forced to act, this pushed America to invade because Israel could have and most likely would have used nuclear weapons on Iraq......then the oil would not be accessable by anyone!
