There are many examples of businesses using finance and/or connections to fund purchases and tie up the time gap between purchasing an asset and selling an asset (at a much, much higher price) some months later.
Gina and Solgold may not be a good example as she has the coin in hand, Nathan and his first coal mine, (where does a tradie get the coin to buy a coal mine for $11mil?) and then turn it into somewhere between $240-$480million
it happens in O&G too, others on here can provide examples for those that don't believe buy low, sell high can happen quickly.
I know one thing for sure, with 6 billion shares, it wont be a 3B, but strategic partnerships with Petronas, CNOOC etc might be valuable.
