That building sat there for ten years and no issues.
Then construction starts next door with pilings driven down to what depth who knows, and what depth excavation was carried out.
A lot of unanswered questions have yet to be carried out with this and this will set a precedent for future buildings codes in time to come as more bigger development will happen next to smaller apartment blocks.
You say 20 years is ok but the same could happen in 21 years when a much bigger building goes up where the foundations maybe well below the neighbouring property.
I'm not defending one or the other and as the old say goes, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction and soil and foundations do funny things at times.
