we shouldn't underestimate how AI and machine learning is going change the way we do everything. all valid points however my belief that over time (and not to long) PCK could determine that the crying as well as the visual aspect for pain determination could indeed make accurate assessment. remember the smartphone has a mic too so enhancing the AI to include into its learning has endless possibilities.
