ALLERGAN' shareholders are quite happy with the deal (46% premium!) while ABB VIE' shareholders are wondering about the USD64b price tag, I think you're over-interpreting the contents, to me the news speak of the willingness of big pharma to undertake large expenditures in order to maintain/increase their revenues, particularly ahead of the expiring of patents protecting the sales of their blockbuster selling drugs.
That's the way I read it, and I am not suggesting that big pharma would pay a similar amount for BOT than what ABB VIE as paid for ALLERGAN, if a deal was struck within 6 months for a hundredth (1/100) of that I'll be happy, that - as today's register- would correspond to 82.5c per share if AUD.
If it was USD640m it 'd be $1.18 per share. It'd be a small deal by Vince' standard and "spare change" for a big pharma.
Who knows anyhow.
