if Moses and Elijah where annihilated and no longer in existence vthen why would Jesus provide a patently false and impossible scenario since no resurrection of the dead saints has occurred
    ---------------
Moses and Elijah being annihilated is a poor description of the situation. They are simply asleep in the Grave from which they will be resurrected. The promise of a resurrection can be found in the Scriptures in the future tense... because it is still yet future.

(Acts 24:15) And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

The resurrection of the anointed (144,000) is to the invisible spirit realm. For those that died prior to Jesus, their resurrection will be to here on a new paradise earth. Jesus gave demos of this.
