What's the CLEAR and obvious message here Mr G????
    "

Part of the problem is this insistence that every word of the Bible must be considered the inerrant word of God.
Mr G is simply quoting what Paul wrote and it's no good you quoting other verses and interpreting them to negate what Paul clearly says.

Better to remind Mr G that Paul was writing to a fledgling early Church that was at the time under "attack" by so called heretics claiming that Jesus was not divine.
In the face of this and with his usual over the top enthusiasm, Paul felt they needed a clear cut rebuttal to those heretics in no uncertain terms. Not only was Jesus divine but the whole Universes was made through him and everything made for him. So important that he was the firstborn of all Creation.
    Can't really top that.

However, if you insist that everything Paul supposedly wrote was the inspired word of God, then you will never be able to move Mr G from his interpretation.
