No you are not being a pessimist just inaccurate as these results relate to the live facial recognition trials being conducted using NEC live facial recognition software from Japan.

There are successful trials being conducted but they involve using software to compare individual photographs with the police data base of convicted criminals for the purpose of reducing the number of photographs that an officer has to look at from the data base. In a recent case a poor quality photograph obtained by police of the suspect in a violent crime in a matter of minutes selected two hundred odd photos of known criminals from the millions on file and these photographs were then used by the investigating officer to commence his investigation.

I have no idea what company is providing the technology for these trials but would suspect that if it was NEC then there would not be any secrecy around their involvement. Could it be BRN who knows but from the presentations at the past two AGM's I would believe that Studio would be more than capable of carrying out this task.
