Because Zebra can really only produce positional data (X,Y, Z coordinates) and player orientation via LPS setup. They then use algorithms to infer other performance data to bridge the gap to Catapult's offering, but can only get so far with this. They also require the client to install fixed beacons for the LPS system to work, whereas Catapult can still offer their GPS-based location system to those who want to avoid a beacon installation.
Catapult's wearable system has always been superior to Zebra in a training context. I suspect the gap is widening given all the integration work Catapult is doing with their own video and AMS systems, plus it's great to see more partnerships with other providers to continue to build their analytics offering beyond just wearable data.
