holding in a bear market? hmmmmm... let me think about that one... i think i will keep my 8% minus inflation minus tax thanks. tax implies i actually made a profit for the year... lol. i think being long only this year will be fighting against the tide.
i am actually considering learning how to short - its a completely different game to being long only though as you would well know. my colleagues that do it say it is a nightmare though - even in a bear market...! their biggest complaint were short cover rally days where they get stopped out constantly or give back a whole 1-2 weeks worth of profit in a single day.
i guess i will have to learn futures too. how else can i adapt to this market? my speciality (long mining spec stocks) have seen me getting stopped out constantly. my ratios on win/loss are getting worse - my expectancy has turned negative this month.
