It's an ETF isn't is? So they buy whatever stocks are in the index, that's how they match the performance of the index ... similarly an XJO ETF buys all the stocks in the ASX200 at the appropriate % so they mirror the index. If AMI is in the gold index that VanEck is matching then that's why they bought it, it has nothing to do with their view on the company
