surely APRAs actions were all about appearances. They thought they had a slam dunk case against Kelaher in light of the rc, with the public (read ‘media’) opinion behind them, which would show that they were strong, and happy to proceed to court.
too bad for APRA that the media moves with the breeze and the case was a legal matter rather than a matter of opinion.
Im not sure what you mean by the ‘significantly larger quantum’? Do you mean that APRA is possibly bringing a larger amount of financial damages/charges against IOOF? Surely we would have heard of this so far into the case.
On a separate note, I’m not sure if this case will have much to do specifically with the eventual remediation figure that IOOF settles on, what do you think?
Ill be annoyed for DC and George Venardos if they aren’t shown to have done anything wrong. I’d pegged DC as the next ceo. I’m less sympathetic about CK as, imo, it was his demeanour that put IOOF in the firing line.
