All that any of us have is opinion right now as we are lacking any data on BIT's plans and even more what the various pharma companies have told BIT. We have to make an assessment using experience and logic.
Your assessment of what the pharma companies have told BIT is exactly what I think as well except the further analysis will require new data. I would have said "this is very interesting. Do some further analysis work and come back to us with how we can use this with..."
No pharma company is going to fund going from an exploratory trial (only the CD4 & CD8 data was exploratory anyway) to phase 3. If anyone can find an FDA approved non-orphan indication drug that has gone from an exploratory trial straight to phase 3 in the last 10 years I will send them a $100.
I think we are basically in agreement on the potential future of BIT225 - it needs more phase 2 trial(s). The problem is no pharma company is going to pay for these phase 2 trial(s). It is going to have to be the shareholders of BIT who put in the money. I suspect that if this happens that there will be some very disappointed shareholders.
I have never said anyone from BIT has no integrity. I disagree with BIT and MM as to the value of BIT225 to a pharma partner. I don't think any pharma partner is going to be interested in funding a phase 3 trial on the basis of the data BIT has from the BIT009 trial.
