BBG are a huge International player in the telecoms market. The downside is that no one in Australia has even heard of them.

Now management have to do the job properly of communicating how important this deal is. No matter what it is called in the announcement this is significant for pie. A significant company such as BBG would not have entered into any sort of agreement with pie unless they had researched the market and saw signifcant benefits. Why would they bother unless there was an upside potential. You can bet they already have contracts lined up involving the Web phone.

The announcement was very specific in stating that this deal was international and did not involve Australia. This means that something bigger is in the pipeline for Australia. Anyone's guess what this is but I would not be surprised if it involved some mobile carrier. With Mobile phones supporting wi-fi capabilities and actually switch between wi-fi and cellular networks don't you think mobile cariers would be jumping all over a wi-fi hotspot network in order to deliver a more economical service and have customers make longer calls. Take a look at T-mobile in the US they have just expanded a trial nationwide doing just this. Every single pie Unit is wifi enabled and the majority are right in the spots where people dwell long enough to make calls or recieve content. Think Airports, shopping centres, hotels.

Significantly BBG are also in 100 airports around the world have 350,000 payphones (AKA hotspot webphone sites) in (shopping centres) , and provide service to 2.25 million hotel rooms (Starwood, Four Seasons, Hyatt, IHG and Marriott International). There are lots of synergies that make the agreement between these 2 companies very compelling.

Take a look at the BBG website, This is huge for pie and I wonder why the announcement was not price sensitive.

Pie has survived for many years and thru lots of ups and downs. These are the companies who suddenly turn around and generate millions in revenues. The time for pie to do this is just around the corner.
