Deposit holders are getting squeezed big time now. 1% seems to be the tipping point for them to act. The question is, how would you prefer to lose your money? At a guaranteed rate per annum in the bank, or on the off chance of volatility in the markets? Naturally, people look at the historical charts and choose the later. Of course, I am speaking anecdotally from conversations I have had with people. However, looking at how the ASX200 and property markets have reacted, the RBA is definitely getting what it wanted.
