Toyota, Hyundi and Soft Bank have just thrown circa 4 $Billion at Indonesia to develop an EV/battery industry after the government announced big tax breaks to auto companies and citizen buying EVs (see Bloomberg). An interesting development, given they are on our doorstep.
Also, the EV competition is hotting up. BMW are stepping up EV production, as is Toyota. From the positive articles coming out of Bloomberg lately, one might be forgiven for thinking that we are entering another big push in the EV sector. And other than a few small squeaks with regard to lack of battery supply (Audi), the majors don't seem to be worried, given the step-up in EV production. Mixed messages perhaps, but if the majors aren't worried, then neither am I.
