This morning Macquarie Research updated their cobalt price forecasts as follows:-

2007 29.2 US $/lb
2008 48.6 $/lb plus 24% on previous forecast
2009 46.3 $/lb plus 54%
2010 35.0 $/lb plus 56%
2011 20 $/lb plus 33%

They have raised their forecast prices based opon "increasing diffiulties faced by cobalt producers. A number of nickel-cobalt pressue acid leach projects have been pushed back and development of copper/cobalt mines in Central Africa have encountered numerous diffiulties in bringing projects on stream on time and within budget. " They might also have mentioned IMO that cobalt is needed in batteries for hybrid cars.
