Unfortunately its this attitude thats hampering the development of this country into the right direction. People in this country will vote for whoever will put more money into their hip pocket.
This kind of attitude is ingrained into the culture here. The way Kerry Packer behaved with his attitude to tax-paying is a fine example. His disgraceful behaviour was an embaressement to many, but not to most. The media were sympathetic to his attitude which was a disgrace in itself. And thats because people in this country are obsessed with saving tax, and good tax avoiders are considered heroes
Thesi, the money saved from the imputation credits and negative gearing policies would have put money into clean energy and renewables and maybe even by direct investment in this sector by the government. The money for this had to come from somewhere.
Its not only about the money that would have gone into this area but in fact it could have been a very promising lucrative investment that could easily have have profitable for the govt and the people of Australia in the longer term, (and provided employment). This sector is a huge growing industry in itself.
Instead people went for the hip pocket vote and won and will now spend that money on a Samsung TV or a Huawey mobile phone. Dumb. Wasted.
