The imputation credit and negative gearing policies were excellent ideas - always a risk to take ideas like this to an election though. Unless the government has completely stuffed up, the way for an opposition party to win an election is to have a leader that communicates well with the average person, looks good on TV, and don’t release a comprehensive range of policies, particularly ones that might have a negative impact on a segment of the community.
So this has left us with a country that can’t develop and introduce major reform anymore. All the changes introduced in the 1980s wouldn’t have any chance in the current political environment.
