@BugsamI was playing with trading for years up until this year, when I realised how much I had lost.
I now have a piddly 10k in my account and use the 2% rule.
I only have to make 2% on a trade to cover brokerage. I live fairly frugally, as I gave up smoking and only have a couple of beers each night. Living expenses are no more than $300 per week, plus food.
I still come here everyday for the tips/ideas and I love the speed.
But I tend not to jump in every stock that gets mentioned any more.
I realise now that if a stock runs after being mentioned on here and I miss it, there will be plenty more.
I am tending to go swing trades recently, holding anywhere from 1 to 14 days. I have done this for the last month and it is paying off.
Making enough to cover costs, (internet, Viewpoint, live charts etc) plus rent and utilities.
I am in a position now where I can no longer earn a living physically for 3 months or so, so this is important to me.
I am just glad I had enough brains to do some learning before my current situation arose.
Also have the time now to concentrate on my trading.
