I fail to see relevance in that comparison.

Unless the EV: drives you back home, cooks you a dinner then washes up. Tidies your home while performing circus tricks to amuse you, wakes you up in the morning with fresh coffee, etc.

Unless you find an EV that does that, it performs exactly the same function as ICE.
Unlike the difference between your old phone that could only make calls and a super computer assistant we also call a phone!
