Lion2009 name one third world country in the region that is good at repaying their debts to the Chinese...then also have a look at how much the USA owes and what is their current account deficit.

Please note that a large proportion of the dollars to fund this project will go directly back to those Chinese companies contracted to build the rail and infrastructure. This is really more like a Chinese employment project when you think about it. It is almost like double dipping IMO. They fund the deal, and then get paid for having their own state sponsored companies build and construct. Happy days. Same formula is repeating throughout the world.

That is one reason I can see why the Chinese seem to be so relaxed and willing to forgive this type of debt as they would have already received most of the money back into the country, and when the debit is not paid back this provides them with an opportunity to take a foot hold in the country and control some of the valuable infrastructure and gold mines by stealth.

Correct me if I am wrong but hasn't the project in WA already had one major failed attempt to fund.

It is hard to see this project not going ahead in some form or another.

A project generating the equivalent to 10% of the GDP is hard to argue against.
