One interesting possibility might be to pyrolyze it using a solar thermal concentrator to heat it directly. Would be an ideal part of the world for that kind of thing.
The Solomons have their heads in the alternative energy world - perhaps they can come up with an innovative way to exploit it in an environmentally acceptable way.
