why do you think there isn't even one proposal for a new coal plant yet 10's of wind and solar plants are under construction currently?

Really is not rocket science to see why there is no money being spent on reliable and inexpensive coal fired generation...not one other reason other than billions of dollars being flippantly thrown at solar and wind generators....try putting your hand out for a grant to build a coal fired station and you will leave empty handed....put your hand out for cash to destroy some good farmland or flatten a forest to place solar panels or a wind "farm" and you will need a wheel barrow to carry the cash.
The minority once again ruling for the majority...when this whole wind mill solar panel craze passes we will no doubt once again spend much less money on far cheaper and far more reliable power generation.
If it weren't for coal the solar panels and wind generators would not exist...the base load power just to operate the smelters to manufacture these "renewables" comes from mainly coal fired power generators as wind and solar will always be intermittent and too unreliable.
Solar and wind are fine...expensive but ok...but will never ever take the place of reliable and cheap coal or nuclear...
