Nirvana I don’t know what idyllic state or place you are in but I’ll let you in on a not secret anymore. I work in the industry so I do have a wee bit of knowledge on the subject so if you would like to carry on with the discussion feel free.

Now just to let you in on another not secret around here, battery prices have and will continue to fall dramatically. Latest estimates are that within a couple of years the cost will be approx’ $100 per kWh. So even using a figure of $200 p/kWh for seller markup, management system, installation and sub circuit connection to your switchboard, its likely that a 20kWh ESS will cost around $4000. 3.6kw of Solar Panels in my part of the world produces about 20kWh per day so add on a few more panels for general use and Bobs your uncle. So even if you put enough solar panels on to take total cost to $10k, you would be supplying your house, charging the EV and pumping some back into the grid to give enough income to pay any associated Retail Network metering fees. Granted finding $10k would be a hit for many but if you look at payback period it’s a no brainer.

Now as much as I respect a good discussion on the matter, some more research and substance on your part might help with your point of view.

Now there is a selling idea for the EV manufactures. Sell a powerwall and panels as part of the EV package. I’m sure Elon is all over it. He just needs the Lithium/ Battery supply chain pumping.
