    If you google anything on pegmatite formation, you will find plenty of resources on how this intrusive, igneous rock is formed. Being intrusive (below surface), on average slow cooling = larger crystallites, so there is a lot of theory about crystallization. Here is a short peered review of the topic. There might be a paywall (don't see it at where I'm at) but there a plenty of resources online.
