May well be overdone, hard to say, but the reality is that a tangible impact like that described above also comes with other intangibles that raise concerns. It's not really effective to look at it just in isolation as a measurable impact on the results. For example, will the company then be able to meet this new (revised) guidance, or will Thomas Cook's own problems deteriorate and flow on? Will the talk of other acquisitions entail risks like that encountered here? Just examples, but the sort of follow-on thought that analysts and market makers will take into account, as opposed to say just subtracting simple dollar terms from forecasts. That's too simplistic for mine.
