Hard to see how they'd be getting a better return by paying down debt.
GFA is a different entity to Gold Fields financially (I'm assuming) so maybe they need to lighten the debt but it's still difficult to see why they need to unload their entire position. Maybe they simply need the cash.
What it does mean is conjecture but it seems ..
1. They're not thinking of making a bid for the lot.
2. They're not seeing another bidder on the radar for GOR or they'd stay in for the premium that may bring.
OR
3. They're seeing a bidder on the radar and they want to be completely at arms length - (seems unlikely to me)
