Good to hear that you have a little bit of experience in Vietnam. Today is very different to yesterday. I've been doing business in S.E. Asia for more than 30 years. Twenty years ago Vietnam was a different place than it is today, the people were dirt poor and the many that I talked to had wished that the USA had won the war. In the last 15 years the rise of China has made Vietnam into a powerhouse today. When the USA sanctions against Vietnam were lifted about 20 years ago then the country started to improve. If you were there like I was more than 20 years ago then you may have a different outlook. I remember speaking with teachers who didn't make enough to feed their families and took on jobs as noodle sellers or tour guides as the pay was far better. The police were brutal when dealing with anybody who didn't toe the line.
Yes, today most young ones wouldn't remember what it was like back in the 1990's.
I still normally spend 3 to 6 months every year in S.E. Asia, have travelled everywhere, and driven in most parts where I'm allowed to drive, I also own properties there. So I guess I actually have more experience than you.
I still think your comment is dumb.
The situation has changed in Vietnam today, its full of tourists and life is so much better there.
I stand by what I said.
"China is getting worried with the number of Chinese companies and other investment moving to Vietnam to escape the USA/China trade war tariffs.
Higher wages and environmental regulations are also having an affect on the Southern manufacturing hub of China.
China with its Belt and Road project is a way of taking a control of much of Asia through investment and loans.
Its wise for Scott Morrison to point out the problem to Vietnam about Chinese aggression in the region. China is already unhappy with the amount of manufacturing thats leaving the southern Guangdong province to Vietnam."
