Geez, I got bored with the 'General' thread and thought I'd check out how 'politics' was going and find the GW discussion is here as well.
Firstly, I will state my position for what it's worth. I've been following this subject for about 15 years and I am yet to hear a proper response to some quite reasonable questions, such as:-
Why was it warmer at several points in the last 2000 years?
As many have pointed out, how come the Romans were growing grapes in England and the temperature was apparently approx 1.5-2.0 deg. warmer?
How were the Vikings growing crops in Greenland in areas now covered in ice?
If the ice caps on Mars truly are melting, how can that be overlooked?
So far I have not seen the 'evidence' that CO2 actually causes heating and not cooling.
I'm sure others can pose many more questions that remain to be logically answered, but if one can't answer just these few valid questions satisFACTorily, how can they expect non-believers to take them seriously?
Having said all that, my 'bet' is that we are possibly heading into another cooling period, and that is even scarier! Especially for Global food production.

Regardless of who is right in this continuing debate, which has been see-sawing from one side to the other for 100 years, I'm sure we ALL agree that it is a worthy goal to reduce our dependence on fossil fuel. But I am yet to see any real attempt by Government to address this once and for all.
Reducing subsidies for solar tech.,wave tech.,etc and giving $millions instead to coal burners and car makers for old, existing & inefficient technology, gives lie to the stated goal of making this country world leaders in cheap renewable energy.
Why not give that money instead to the CSIRO with free license to explore ALL avenues. For pete's sake there are thousands of backyard mechanics out there playing with hydrogen generators with limited funds and having great success. Imagine what real scientists could do with $millions!
I don't get the feeling those in charge are fair dinkum. They spruik and spin a lot but they are doing burger all to fix this once and for all. Tesla, just for one example, had plans over 100 years ago to solve the Earth's energy virtually for free, but he was shut down.
Those who constantly harp on about the problem, have any of you spent time in the lab or the garage experimenting with other alternatives, or are you just armchair whingers?
30 years ago we were playing with running cars on petrol vapour (much more efficient by at least 3-6 times) What are YOU doing personally to solve the problem, or is it easier to complain but do nothing constructive?

Anyway enough said but if you can't answer such basic questions why don't you go away until you can, or are we going to hear the same mantras infinitum?
